We’ve made it through the first month of the new calendar year and almost to the Lunar New Year - Year of the Dragon! Life at the studio has been busy, but calm, if that makes any sense… We’re still slowly getting the house settled and decorated how we like (code for “I have ‘too much’ art and ‘too many art supplies’, but am problem solving ways to give everything its best life in my studio or in a new home outside of my own, because I struggle with the concept of ‘too much’ of either of those categories” - haha!). We’ve also been exploring the area more deeply and making new friendships and creative connections within our unique and quirky desert community. Independently, I have been working on watercolors of desert animals and scenery, wire-wrapping stone pendants and working on commissioned pet portraits. I’ve also been collaborating, having art-making days with other local artists, and soon starting a new endeavor with Energy Healing By Willow. We will be offering unique high desert experiences featuring sound baths and cacao ceremonies performed by Willow, and integrating artistic expression exercises, as well as nature-based activities. Workshops will vary in length and location, depending on the seasonal weather conditions, and we will be collaborating with a local nature guide, along with other artists and healers from time to time. We will even offer some sessions that cater to families with children, because the benefits of sound and art have no age limit (plus, it gives parents a chance to relax and re-center a bit while their kids are having fun getting doing the same in a safe, novel, brain-friendly setting). Our first experience is in the works to take place in March near the spring equinox, but if you want a sneak peak of Willow’s offerings, I will be assisting her on Saturday, February 10th for a cacao ceremony and sound bath at Desert’s Edge Vintage in Yucca Valley. For more info or to reserve your spot, you can go to the Eventbrite ticket page. That’s about all of the news for now… I’ll be back soon, but right now I have cute animals to paint and art supplies to organize!
